Why are you not doing the thing you are afraid of?

Fear is a basic emotion that allows our body to respond to what we perceive as threat: eustress mode is turned on, so our amygdala activates our fight-flight response, cortisol shows up, adrenaline shows up, digestion shuts down, your whole bodily system gets ready to protect you.

Back in the day, a lion sneaking up on you triggered fear. You know what triggers fear now? Freedom.

During the pandemic, many of my clients got a taste of how having a different life would be for them: less spending in unnecessary things, less time at the office, more time with their families, more time to exercise, to do what they love, to listen to themselves…

So, logically, one of the main reasons for consultation at my private practice these days is “how do I make the changes I know I need to make because I know they are what is best for me?”

Telling the truth is one of the best antidepressants in the market —now, imagine telling the truth to your-Self. How powerful does that feel? Powerful enough to choose you and what you love to do?

Those who love you, your primary people, will support you —no matter what.

So don’t worry about changing the behaviors needed to get you where you want to be. You will not die from choosing to leave that relationship, that job, that house… all of that, if it is not serving you anymore… I promise, you won’t.

But then, I didn’t expect a bed of roses. You see, the quality of your life is directly related to the amount of uncertainty you can comfortably live with.

Yes, it takes courage —as in “coeur” or heart = “heart-driven action”. Yes, it takes trusting life and your abilities. And yes, YOU CAN
